Something exciting is taking shape on Hennepin Avenue!
Hennepin Arts is transforming 900 Hennepin into an extension of the historic Orpheum Theatre, launching a milestone investment in our long-term vision for the Hennepin Theatre District.
And for Orpheum guests, one of the biggest changes will be impossible to miss: more than 20 new lobby-level restrooms for all guests.
The new restrooms are part of a nearly $6 million renovation that will dramatically expand the Orpheum experience beyond its historic footprint. Guests will also discover expanded gathering spaces, additional bars and concessions, improved circulation, new technology to make arrival and entry faster and a new Lexus Lounge with premium amenities for eligible donors.
Together, these improvements will create a more comfortable, welcoming and seamless experience for everyone who comes through our doors. But what is happening at 900 Hennepin is about much more than one building.
A bigger vision for Hennepin Avenue
For the past year, Hennepin Arts has been working alongside public, private and nonprofit partners to develop a long-term vision for the Hennepin Theatre District and its role in the future of downtown Minneapolis.
The vision builds on the District's role as one of Minneapolis' greatest cultural assets and the belief that arts and culture will continue to play a leading role in downtown's future. By improving the way people experience our theaters today, we're also laying the foundation for an even more vibrant District tomorrow.
We see a stronger, more connected district where historic theaters, businesses, restaurants, public art and gathering spaces come together to create an unmistakable destination in the heart of the city.
That future won't be built through a single project. It will take shape over time through thoughtful improvements, historic preservation, vibrant programming and partnerships throughout the community.
