About Kings of Gospel ft. Fred Hammond, Marvin Sapp & Jovonta Patton

When Fred Hammond started his first group, Commissioned, back in the '80s, the young producer and singer carved out a niche for himself as a major force in the industry. A singer since the age of 12, nothing could keep the dynamic Hammond down when he took off on a solo career with 1991's "I Am Persuaded," an album that reached No. 11 on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums. From there, Hammond established his firm place in the world of contemporary black music. "God, Love & Romance," released in 2012, reached No. 1 and for good reason. In songs like "Face It All," Hammond fuses the love song with gospel praise so perfectly that the match seems made in heaven.

Grammy-nominated Marvin Sapp credits the entirety of his pop culture success to his faith, a power that served as the sole inspiration behind his 2012 participation in the Kings Men tour — not to mention his best-selling 2007 release, Thirsty. After achieving success with this breakthrough album, Sapp proceeded to further spread his faith by pursuing a speaking tour, as well as a live recording of several fan favorites at churches and cathedrals across the country. Sapp’s performances has fans on their feet, swaying side to side to his slow, yet inspirational lyrics. In 2009, the gospel singer followed up his huge breakthrough album by recording "Here I Am" live at Wyoming, Michigan's Resurrection Life Church. More recently, he's followed a similar concert album route with the release of "I Win," a touching collection recorded at Evangel Cathedral near Washington, D.C.

Jovonta Patton is a six-time #1 chart-topping Billboard recording artist, composer, producer, and entrepreneur. Thom Jurek of AllMusic.com stated that “A reedy baritone, Jovonta’s singing voice, while firmly rooted in the modern gospel tradition, is readily accessible, offering an edifying approach he calls ‘pop-gospel,’ which proved successful on his self-released album Finally Living, making him the first independent gospel artist to have a #1 album on the Billboard gospel charts.” Born and raised in Minneapolis, Patton thrived while regularly attending church with his mother, where he developed a love for God, a passion for worship and a strong interest in gospel music.
