Second Chance Prom
Did you expect your high school prom to be like the ending of Pretty in Pink, but it ended up skewing more Carrie?
Did a Mean Girl win Prom Queen even though She wasn't All That?
Were you too nervous to get Footloose to the choreo from High School Musical 3 because there were 10 Things You Hated About everyone in your school?
Did you forget all of it because it was the night you were introduced to Boone's Farm and you didn’t regain consciousness until Graduation?
Everyone remembers their prom for one reason or another—even if the reason is that you never went. Whether it was the best or worst night of your life, Second Chance Prom gives you the opportunity to Be Kind, Rewind and do it all over - on your own terms. And this time it’s even better because you can drink legally and Uber exists!
Hennepin Arts presents Second Chance Prom with live music from Al Church and The Congregation and Private Oates playing your favorite throwback bangers and slow jams from the 80s, 90s, and beyond to make all your dreams come true. Use your adult money to dress in your finest prom attire from whatever decade’s fashion travesty you embrace. Enjoy the 2nd floor Losers Lounge, open for all who prefer more introverted extroversion. Create the most awkward prom photo pose of all time, prepare to breech the balloon arch, and request your jam, dammit!
The punch is spiked, the streamers are streaming, and this time NOBODY CRIES! It may be your only chance to turn a night you can’t stand to remember into a night you won’t want to forget. Plan your prom-posals, book your limos, and snag your tickets NOW!
Al Church and The Congregation is a dance band from Minneapolis specializing in sweaty group sing-alongs, playing hits from the 80s, 90s and beyond!
Private Oates, also fronted by Church, is America's favorite Hall and Oates appreciation band. Officially endorsed by John Oates himself who said, "Keep waving the flag!" We will, John. We will.
Al Church is a Tony-nominated (Macbeth, 2022) multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who fronts his own solo project, plays guitar/sings in BBGUN and also performs with several other Twin Cities bands, such as Pink Mink, Jon Jones, Electric Party Authority, and more.
