Second Chance Prom
Second Chance Prom returns with “PROMAGEDDON,” a campy, end-of-the-world-themed adult prom inspired by the 1998 blockbuster Armageddon—so dress like it’s your last night on Earth and dance to throwback hits (yes, including Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”) performed live by Twin Cities favorite, Al Church and Friends. Whether you missed out on prom the first time or just want a do-over, join the fun on June 20 on the third floor at Hennepin Event Center, featuring a classic wood spring dance floor. Lean into the Late 90s vibe with butterfly clips, boy bands, Britney, and TRL-era nostalgia, or go full “asteroid aftermath” with ripped formalwear, space suits, or your own apocalyptic twist. You don't want to miss this thing!
This is a 21+ event.
Red Carpet & Pre-Prom Lounge 7-8pm (1st Floor)
All attendees are invited to the Promageddon red-carpet experience with MPR Life starting at 7pm sharp outside the venue, featuring local personalities Richard Anderson, Kittie Fahey, and Ethan Miandrisoa. A step-and-repeat photo op will be available for guests to show off their 90s vintage, space suits, or apocalyptic glam!
Inside, head to the Pre-Prom Lounge on the 1st Floor to enjoy complimentary bites from Mezzo Mezzo, reconnect with your crew, and grab your first sip of Promageddon punch (spiked or non-alcoholic), all set to a super fly nostalgic playlist.
Live Band Dance Party 8-11pm (3rd Floor Ballroom)
The dance party kicks off at 8pm on the 3rd Floor with Al Church & Friends performing 1990s favorites. Capture the moment in front of the balloon arch and dance like it's the end of the world!
Al Church and Friends is comprised of rock gods Jourdan Myers (Vocals, Keys) Evan Fox (Vox, Bass) Alex Young (drums), Pete LaVoie (Saxophone), and Al Church, a Tony-nominated (Macbeth, 2022) multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Minnesota.
