At Hennepin Arts, we love celebrating pathways into theater careers — especially when they connect directly to our Broadway-presenting partner, Broadway Across America (BAA). That’s why we’re excited to share that applications are now open for the BAA + BTC Regional Apprenticeship Program for Spring 2026.
Ever wonder what it takes to bring a Broadway tour to life? From ticketing and marketing to opening night, there’s a lot that goes on behind the curtain. And now, college students and early-career professionals can get a front-row seat to that process.
This paid, 14-week program is designed to give participants hands-on experience in the business of Broadway touring. Minneapolis is proud to be one of 10 host cities across the U.S. and Canada — alongside New York, Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Ottawa, and more — where apprentices will spend their semester learning the ropes. Here at Hennepin Arts, that means working alongside the team that helps bring Broadway’s biggest shows to our historic stages.
Over the course of the program, apprentices explore the many facets of commercial theater: presenting, ticketing, marketing strategy, operations, and more. And the grand finale? The entire cohort travels to New York City for a week of Broadway shows, networking, and on-the-job learning alongside industry leaders.
Lauren Reid, President of the John Gore Organization (parent company of BAA), put it best:
“We are proud to see the continued impact of our partnership with BTC, as alumni of the program go on to build meaningful careers across the Broadway industry. This initiative both prepares the next generation of theater professionals and enriches our industry with fresh perspectives.”
And it’s working. Alumni of the apprenticeship have gone on to careers with Broadway producers, Tony Award Productions, Disney Theatricals, regional theaters, marketing agencies, and more. For many, it’s been a true launchpad into the industry.
📅 Applications are due Oct. 1, 2025 💻 Learn more and apply here.
Whether your dream is to work behind the scenes in Minneapolis or make your mark on Broadway in New York, this program is a unique entry point into the business of live theater — and we’re thrilled to help share the opportunity.
